Black & Gold - Sam Sparro

So my mom bought me almond milk...I'm not sure how I feel about it at all. I don't want to be rude & tell her I don't want it but in all honesty I will probably never drink it. Hopefully there will be recipes or something that I can use it for.

The last few days have been absolutely crazy, but overall, I've learned/accepted a few fundamental things about myself. I'm not necessarily happy about the way everything panned out but I think in the big picture it was important for me to figure these things out (w/ some help of course).
Such as how to bathe.
(:
No jk, but hopefully things will be a blessing in disguise, a catalyst that will force me to be more real w/ myself & others than I ever have been & in turn, allow me to let go of some inner demons, people, & habits that aren't necessary & build up from there. We'll see, but I'm hopeful.

Aaaanyways, I shouldn't be procrastinating much longer, I still have all of patho to study for as well as writing a paper, thinking about/writing an abstract, coming up w/ poster designs, & starting to cram for biochem. Love school.

The countdown to Friday & regaining my sanity starts now.

First all nighter of the year

Yup. It honestly wouldn't be so terrible if I didn't get about eight hours of sleep combined for the past two nights, but here I am, w/ my Boh Caramel Teacino studying dosage so I don't fail my first exam of pharm school. This blog might turn into a picture/writing comb considering I've been using pictures more, but I think that makes it more fun to read, right?

Hopefully by doing this, I can study enough to be able to play an hourish of ultimate later today
I realized by writing that, my priorities are still in the wrong order. Maybe I'll reorient them next week

Anyways, back to solid dosage forms; two lectures done, five to go. Bring it.

EDIT: I'm pretty glad it's storming out because the thunder's keeping me awake hahah. Though this will mean soggy fields & unless it stops raining in the next few hours, a soggy bike seat because there's no way in hell that I'm walking through bipolar torrential flood & my car has been blocked in by my housemates, fail.
EDIT 2: though I think it's kinda funny that the lightning just set off some one's car alarm, GO AWAY. Even w/ noise cancelling headphones some of the bolts must be really close & hugely distracting
EDIT 3: 6:30am- four lectures done, three left. After spending the majority of the last 10 hours on a stool, I've decided that a butt massager will be necessary for future all nighters. (though other than food/drink/bathroom runs I did take a break to polynesian dance which was fun!)

A Typical Day in the Life of Jo...

...you know, where I fail ALL the time. I swear, if there was a Nobel prize for failing, I would retire it.
To give you an idea of what I mean:
-I fell asleep in class today while typing
-While I was power walking to the med school, I was annoyed that the sidewalk went around this hill so I decided to save myself the time & just walk over it. Good idea, till the hill got steep & next thing I know, I'm on my ass sliding down the hill. Yup, poop colored mud on my butt & pant legs. It was an uncomfortable rest of the walk over. When I get there, the lab prof who we're in collab w/ laughs & asks if I want to wash off my pants which I decide to do. So in this bathroom which is normally abandoned, five women walk in to see me pantsless washing my pants in the sink...no one them said anything back when I said "hi." So I wash the butt of my jeans to an acceptable color of mud & am drying them via the hand dryer thing, until I look at my watch & realize I'm about to be late to our confocal appointment which charges us over $20/hr for usage. -I ended up spending the next four hours in a dark room battling sleepiness in soggy jeans looking for experimental data that never materialized because our slides kept drifting likely because we put too much DAPI+mounting media on the slide. Approximately a few hundred dollars & lots of time wasted. Back to square one.
-When I told my prof what happened to me, he just laughed, then said, "oh maybe I shouldn't be laughing." Hahahah ohhh man.
-I'm also pretty sure I messed up my toe when I slipped, it hurts considerably to move it. Some one rate my pain scale now (vital signs ftw?)

And now, time to start that studying I put off, oops?

Another Way of Procrastination

Other than this, facebook, & incessantly checking my email, I think I have found a new way to put off studying. Though technically it's my job, it's so gratifying to tutor people, see their minds working, & finally hear the "ohhh okay that makes sense" than anything else that I've done in a long time. I think this will be a good job, I just hope it doesn't get too much into the way of school...& that it pays somewhat well (:

Dally & good food = win.

First off, I just finished making the most epic lunch ever: carmelized onions & mushrooms, beef patty made myself, mozarella cheese, toasted bread, & guacamole to make a burger. Then, the extra mushrooms on the side, celery, tomatoes, & raspberries. Oh yes. Now I just have to figure out how to cut down the cook & prep time from two hours, fail. But nevertheless, I'm pretty proud of my super cool meal.

Secondly, the potluck at our place was a pretty big success! Lots of food, a good turn out, & fun times. I enjoyed it a lot & am excited for the next one, which I don't plan on making fried rice for hahah.

Yesterday was satisfying. I had a lazy morning w/ Zach consisting of guitar, laughs, & the usual chilling. After getting ready for the day, we went met up w/ Tony & Mik for some Bangkok Cuisine Express which was delicious; on the way over I ran into one of my housemates w/ my old housemate & apparently had a hearing fail when talking to them. After lunch, Zach dropped us off at my apartment & we went to Dally! I ended up hanging out w/ Pete, Rich, Mik, Jordan, Soph, Norbert (theeee one & only!), Mark, Tony, Russel, Sarah, & a bunch of other people I met at any given point during the day. Because the weather was so shitty in the beginning, I spent lots of time in apartments working on my drunken haze that lasted for the rest of the day & night. I probably made a tard of myself between the stupid stuff I'm sure I said & hugging/laying on everyone but I had a really good time. I also bought two shirts which I'm pretty sure I got ripped off for because they both knew I wasn't completely there but oh well, they're pretty sweet & I'm glad I got them anyways. Lastly, the spins are no good.

Which means after two days of doing absolutely nothing related to school, I need to start studying & working like crazy. Goodbye life, I'll come back for you in a few months!

Labor Day Weekend

Yesterday was an awesome day:
Both of my classes finished early, lots of hanging out w/ friends, Bangkok Cuisine (yum!), & the first potluck of the school year! It was pretty chill, there were only a few of us but the food was good (I was so proud that I made fried rice...second time ever but everyone actually ate it!), the company was good, losing pretty much every game against Zach in super smash wasn't so good, but watching MacGruber after was. Not to mention that the weather was perfect & that after 1pm, I didn't do a single thing related to school.

Today has also been good:
I finally returned some clothes that I've been putting off for a while so that means some money in the bank along w/ the extra three days of pay that I'm getting from my internship because of the different holidays over the summer! The rest of the day is going to be college football & homework/studying. Chilling out at home, fall looks like it's starting to kick in.

Tomorrow will be fun:
AA to see Cat! There will also be dim sum, the Chinese supermarket, & more hw/studying involved. Possible overnight trip.
Saturday night edit: so AA ended up being a bust, my mom cancelled going w/ the rest of the fam friends (as was the original plan) because I didn't plan on coming back w/ them & staying the night. So instead I did some hw & went golfing w/ my dad (par three nine hole course) which was lots of fun & I'd say the highlight of my weekend. I meant to go to AA anyways, but I got back to Detroit late & by that point, I felt like being domestic & cutting up fruit hahah. Which I got a blister from the knife I used, fail.

Monday should be chill:
I'm thinking about going to AB&E especially since it's in Royal Oak this year & Ari's performing! More hw times ahead fo sho.
Tuesday night edit: yup, AB&E didn't happen either. Once I realized how much I still have to do along w/ the fact that Noble Fish Market was closed, I got too lazy. BUT! I did finish up (most) of my dosage assignment & took a really nice walk w/ Caleb so thumbs up for that

Stalker material, oh yeah.

I also fully enjoy cuddling. This didn't really fit anywhere else in the blog.
Oh, I also can't wait for the cider mills to open! Walks along the river w/ cider, donuts, & possibly caramel apples? Sounds perfect to me.

I've decided that I love watching the rain

Though anything beats homework

EDIT: I've also decided that my body is telling me I'm too old to keep diving when playing Ultimate, my neck & shoulders have been angry at me since yesterday
