Throwback song, holla.
I've been eating weird combinations of things lately (i.e. raspberry yogurt & green tea for breakfast) but surprisingly, I've found that a sandwich w/ only avocado & pepper jack tastes pretty good.
Anyways, the best thing I've made recently is hands down a steak sandwich: angus ribeye steak cooked to medium rare in an onion-poppyseed bun (I almost typed poopyseed. I'm immature but hahah). So dericious. Yes, I engrished on purpose.
We've finally reached the homestretch! One exam tomorrow & our last one of the semester on Thursday! Of course I'll be studying like crazy until then but man, I'm so happy this point in time has arrived. It's going to be a great summer, just gotta get through these last two relatively small obstacles. If I get a 51% on the exam tomorrow I'll only need a 60% to pass the final on Thursday. Hopefully I can do better on the first one so I can slack on the beast of a cumulative final.
Good luck to everyone on their finals! Or, if you're Jordan, learning how to write B- (woof.)

One More Try - George Michael
Today was my last p4 shadow! As usual I was watching him do a work up of the patients on his floor (this time it was cardio) & he points out a patient that's been hospitalized for his fourth heart attack from smoking crack.
Sidenote: yes, cocaine can cause a heart attack no matter how you get it into your system. Basically it prevents the reuptake of a neurotransmitter (chemical that triggers your neurons) which causes the euphoria...but it also makes your heart beat faster & constricts your blood vessels eventually causing vasospasms which will lead to a heart attack.
Anyways, so apparently the attending phsyician told this patient to stop smoke weed instead.
Ridiculous story, but also makes sense- if he's addicted & Going to smoke something, better something that's a lot more benign than crack.
Last set of practicals tomorrow! Two more exams after that standing in my way between relative freedom (:
Can't wait. It's going to be hard to stay motivated in these last few days but I'm pretty sure everything will work out just fine.

Only the Good Die Young - Billy Joel
If nothing else, pharmacy school has taught me that a man's tie should reach the very top of his belt buckle. A length too short or too long is now seen as ridiculous, and to pull out some gamer terms, n00bish.

Let Me Blow Ya Mind - Eve feat. Gwen Stefani
Pretty sure I'm the only person at the med school right now. Yes, it's close to 4am on a late Friday night/early Saturday morning.
I'm so cool. The only solution- have a dance party to early 2000 pop songs. The song of this post is one that I heard everyday on my way to school for months. Thanks 95.5 & my middle school carpool.

Control Myself - LL Cool J feat. JLo
Throwback song.
| Won this bad boy at the APhA end of the year raffle! |
Although I'm totally nerding out, I'm really excited/happy I won this book (reference?) because it's the 2012-2013 edition of every drug out on the market & just about everything else you can imagine- interactions w/ other drugs, brand names, side effects, etc. Great success.
And LKS repping (is it just me or does this completely go against my character?).
And for the record, I'm wearing shorts.
First round of practicals are done! Not sure I passed all the stations, but I'm also finding it hard to care. Only three stations left next Thursday until I'm done forever! Can't wait.
Cardio exam 3 & the professional development final coming up next week as well. The official countdown of deadlines is now: four more exams, one more round of practicals, one more clinic visit, & one more P4 shadow! ...Along w/ all the evalue journal entries I've neglected to do. Oops? (:
15 calendar days left, 11 semester days. Let's do this.
Looking at my posts I realized I didn't mention this: got a B on my last cardio exam! What's up.

Intergalactic Human - DJ Earworm
Play in adult soccer rec league, get our asses kicked. Get recognized by the girls on the opposing team as a WSU student from a game or two of IM co-ed soccer in the fall. Offered a position on the university's women's club soccer team.
Gotta love how life works.
I'm feeling good, so looks like it's time for post-midnight run number two coming up. Should I be studying instead? Of course.
Also, props to Bill Cosby (& apparently Bill Maher for this): http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/cutline/cosby-george-zimmerman-guns-not-race-real-issue-184628189.html
Lastly, the lady I tutor told me one of the funniest but also unnecessary stories of how her boyfriend cheated on her. Probably no blog appropriate though

Come Home - One Republic feat. Sara Bareilles
I don't come back to my hometown a lot, much less go to the public library. Yet, when I do it seems like they always have a used book sale....& they always get me. I'm such a sucker for somewhat promising books for $2. I impulse bought a live recording of a blues session so we'll see how that goes.
Aaand I just ran into my parents who happened to stop by, however, the only way I knew they were here was because I heard some one sniffling & thought about my dad. The first time I looked around, I didn't see anyone but after a few times I looked over a few shelves & saw him reading a magazine. Yeah, I figured out my dad was here based on how he breathes. That's probably when you know you're family.
Some one has been walking by me every so often & staring or picking through books on the shelves right around where I'm sitting. Not to mention that he just sat down directly to my right, so if I go missing, you'll know why (:
Looking forward to playing some soccer tonight! Let's hope I'm not too out of shape, I had a great post midnight (more specifically, 1:30am) run last night but that was the first time I did anything for a few weeks

In My Head - Jason Derulo
First passed PPS quiz since our OTC module! AKA last October. Needles to say, I'm pretty stoked.
I've also found another missing Cadbury Egg from a couple Fridays back. Success! Just to finish relisten to lectures, take a run, & today will go down as a very productive/relaxing/awesome (AKA perfect) day.

Crawling Towards the Sun - The Hush Sound
JC has just finished her exam, her options for the rest of the day are as follows. Select the appropriate treatment and outline appropriate dosing, duration, and monitoring considerations.
A) sleep
B) work on informatics
C) go to the bar w/ the P1s
D) relisten to Monday's lecture which will be on exam 3
E) study for the upcoming quiz
F) work on her DRP table
G) start outlining for practicals
H) all of the above
I) none of the above
J) more than one answer is correct
From your answer above, are there any interactions w/ her current state: tired, hungry, lazy, and somewhat apprehensive? If so, provide an alternate therapy.
JC's results have just come back. As far as the MC choice part, she scored a B! What is the appropriate follow up?
(It's so weird talking in 3rd person)
For the record, the answer to the MC question above is: J - choices A, B, & C are all correct.
Go Wings! Playoffs tonight (:

Public Service Announcement - Jay-Z
Late nights at the med school, I'm starting to become nocturnal. Or extremely sleep deprived to the point where I won't be able to wake up unless there's sunlight shining in my face...along w/ five alarms set hahah.
I'm a group leader for a semester long project in one of my classes so I'm responsible for emailing the prof our presentations etc. The last powerpoint (yay!) was due last Friday although the actual presentation is today (Tuesday). Since then, I sent him an updated version since the wrong one was sent in the first place, oops. Today (technically yesterday AKA Monday), after meeting w/ the members who were going to present they wanted to make more corrections. So I emailed/called my prof's office phone to make sure it was alright even though the changes were so last minute & I told him to call me. Well, I ended up taking a nap & guess who called me back.
The awkward moment when your professor calls you on your cell phone & you answer dazed/confused and have no idea what was said in the first 30 seconds of the conversation. Hope it wasn't anything too embarrassing haha.
PS- I continued my (Cadbury) Easter egg hunt today... I found one caramel egg! One down, six to go. If you're confused, see the post below

Kiss From A Rose - Seal
^ Remember that song? Definitely childhood material.
Happy Easter everyone! Aaaand here's what the definition of today has turned into for me
Happy Easter everyone! Aaaand here's what the definition of today has turned into for me
Cadbury's Easter egg candy, probably one of the best things ever. Like a true healthcare student, I bought three bags at work today hahah.
I miss the Easter egg hunts my mom used to do for my brother & me, though I'm not sure if I had more fun hiding them or looking. Nevertheless, good times.
Friday night was Kappa Psi's fundraiser & there were so many awkward things that happened but great stories such as...
The car filled w/ guys when after I parked behind them, one of them walked right up to my window, stared at me, walked to the passenger side, stared at him, & tried to sell us weed. Hahah. Oh Detroit.
It's ironic that I would mention how much I miss Easter egg hunts given what happened after I wrote that because guess who just went on an Easter egg hunt courtesy of the cats? This girl.
Annie brought me about seven Cadbury eggs before we went to Pub Rub and I left them in the living room. Just now I went to move them to my room and there was one left and the bag was on the ground. After checking w/ everyone who was over that they didn't take them, I'm pretty sure the cats thought they were toys or something. Hopefully they don't chew through them. Time to look some more. So ridiculous haha.
Lastly, the lady I tutor brought my an Easter basket today! So sweet.

No Reason - Sum41
Breaking news! I don't get jittery & fall asleep within half an hour of drinking anything w/ caffeine! Slowly being sensitized. This is a good thing as long as I don't become one of those people who are addicted to 4398205832904 cups a day. However, I refuse to drink coffee. So gross.
As a side note, double fisting Mexican hot chocolate and green tea w/ roasted brown rice. Awwww yeah, sugar overload + ADH inhibition! Looking forward to tomorrow night when I can replace two "stay awake to study" drinks w/ those of the recreational variety. Going to be a good break from the crazy study schedule, hopefully the hard work this past week pays off. I'm also apparently a huge fan of coffee shop music, the stuff they've been playing (Sara Bareilles, Coldplay, Ingrid Michaelson, Norah Jones, Etta James etc.) is one set I love to listen to for studying. Well done.

Everlong - Foo Fighters
Starting to feel the crunch of my second cardio exam. Time to lock it down and own this next one.
I looked at my planner today for the remainder of the semester, which is exactly 30 days away by the way. Three presentations, five exams, two quizzes, and two rounds of practicals stand in the way of me & P3 year.
Twelve dragons to slay. Subsequently, I'm probably going to be MIA for a little, wish me luck!

To Be With You - Mr. Big
What a weekend it's been (so far); it's pretty much has been about rediscovering.
Yesterday was the first time I've been to Funk Night in over a year & it was just as fun as I remembered. It was great to hang out & dance to a live band. It's always a plus that there isn't a set "style" of dance, moreover, no one judges you for whatever style you choose. Really fun. Not to mention running into other friends randomly.
Tonight was the first time in a very long time (years) that I actually enjoyed playing soccer & also walked away not feeling destroyed (injuries etc). Moreover, I'm grateful/happy for the kind of people on the team. It's nice to see that they care about winning but are still supportive & don't get in each others' faces or the refs whining about rules & whatnot. That combined w/ the fact that I'm actually in decent shape & can keep up w/ everyone makes me really excited to play more. Yay!
Aaaand to finish out the night, it's time to clean my room. I'm going to be extremely happy when this is finished because it's been a long time coming. Whoo.
