Lessons learned from my Halloween experience in Greektown: if all the other bars are crowded, it means you should stay away from the one that isn't crowded. Persistent creeps & trashy folk will be abound. Great running into so many familiar faces & making new friends! I'm also so thankful we weren't the only ones dressed up as something other than a Tigers fan (hah, joke).
We played our last club soccer game this afternoon at OU! So many memories driving around its campus w/ my parents, even practicing how to park when I got my permit back in the day. Though we lost, 3-1, there are a few things of note to say about the game & our season: 1) the refs took a day off 2) we played together really well 3) both teams had great sportsmanship 4) we played ridiculously well for only having one practice a week 4) I have never enjoyed myself in an official organized soccer team as this one, it was great playing w/ competitive people who wanted to win but would never be rude or get down on each other. Great experience & I hope to be around next fall!
Also, yours truly finally scored a goal. Ironically, I wasn't playing forward when it happened because I was messing up so much. Yeah!...?
Second soccer game of the day coming up at 9:40pm. Thankfully it's indoors; it should be a great time even if we lose, I've missed the midtown team! Not to mention co-ed soccer and the pace of indoor games.
On a completely different thought, it feels great to return something & see that money appear in your bank statement again. Yay!
Also, the Lions won! Even though I only caught the 4th quarter, they looked a lot better, especially Stafford.
Another thing that I forgot to mention. The Faberge exhibit at the DIA is gorgeous & absolutely worth the $15 admission, I recommend it. Though it didn't into as much history behind Carl Faberge & the House of Faberge as I would have liked (which, there's always Wikipedia for), the detail of the objects are stunning. Really well put together.

Save Me - Joshua Verdes
An argument lots of people who are 'pro life' make against abortion is that if you're raped, you should still carry the baby but give it up for adoption.
How significant do you think the psychological impacts would be if you found out you existed because of a rape?
This isn't an everyday topic, I know. I found out recently that a classmate is adopted. Not saying she was a rape baby, but she did finally find out some information about her mom's side. I was just thinking about weird scenarios; this popped up & has been on my mind for the last day or so.

Always Something There - Naked Eyes
On an 80s kick today.
What a beautiful weekend it's been. Driving north on 75 is gorgeous time time of the year w/ the leaves alight w/ color plus sunny & warm fall days. Bonus. Definitely missed this last October when it was still super warm. Other than that, lots of seeing friends, relaxing, driving, sleeping in, seeing my parents, & finally doing everything I've been putting off. Egyptian lamb slaughter is by far the dumbest card game ever...unless you play it after Lafayette. Ready to lock in endocrinology, go time...tomorrow. Since you know, there was the P2 bowling fundraiser (my team was the best because they all did a victory dance), the Lions game now, & the presidential debate.

Heartbeat - Childish Gambino
Oh soccer, how I've missed you in my week hiatus. I understand that you might not be angry & not understand the reasons why I had to leave, but did you really have to make some one hit me in the face w/ a soccer ball today? Maybe I had it coming, it has been 14 years afterall since the last time it's happened. Regardless, we belong together. Like....something that goes together. Let's face it, I'm exhausted & have to study for neuro tomorrow. Home stretch!
Also, when I first heard this song, it didn't make a big impression on me but over time, it's grown on me. Like...gonorrhea? Nah.

Kiss Me - Sixpence None the Richer
26 hours up and counting...surprisingly I don't feel exhausted though I'm sure it's coming. How ironic it is that I'm staying up late studying for neuro & how a few lectures talk about the importance of rest, sleep hygiene, the manifestations of not sleeping, & what kinds of headaches you can get from lack of sleep. Nothing like experiencing first hand right?
Except for lack-of-sleep migraines, I'm pretty sure I'll pass on one of those.
I've found that I have a funny concept of time. I always like to plan things out so I can leave at the last possible minute to get from point A to B. If you know me, things almost always happen where I'm inevitably a few minutes late (even when I take factors like not being able to find my keys into account, go figure). Every second counts, especially when you're on your way to work & I try to squeeze every second out of it. With this mentality you'd think that I see a year as a long time w/ lots of opportunities. Wrong. I see a year as being short, a blink of an eye compared to the decades that most of us live. I see an hour as a tiny blip in time. However, a lot can happen in a second, especially when you allow one second to turn into another, because hey, what's an extra second going to do? Pretty soon, you've wasted an hour. The clock keeps moving. And I keep putting off outlining - the second to last barrier before I'll let myself sleep. Tick. Tick. Tick. How funny it is that I've spent my entire life telling myself that I need to seize opportunities and make the best of my time yet I also tell myself I have so much time...and I end up in situations like this. Where I have diarrhea of the mouth. Just kidding, but the whole procrastination bit. Gotta kick up the productiveness a little.

When Love is Gone - Diego Val
What a good feeling it is to be caught up w/ all the lectures as much as possible. Along w/ having no desire to to out on the weekend, I think this constitutes as being in full school mode. Too bad it kicked in on week 6 of the semester. Here's to studying hard & passing all the exams next week!

Domino - Jessie J
Dear exam gods,
Please please please give me the energy to study enough so I score over a 75% for the exam Wednesday.
Yours truly,
Dying P3

Sweet Caroline - Neil Diamond
Just to let everyone know reading, I don't mean this to offend anyone.
In studying disease states like depression, bipolar, & schizophrenia in our neurology module has me wondering what religious figureheads that were once (i.e. Jesus) would be diagnosed w/ in present society.
PS- why does Panera turn its A/C on in October when it's 40F degrees out? Silly management.

Ride to California - Paper Tongues
Ironically, relistening to a lecture on headaches is giving me one.
Also, I found a full episdoe of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood on YouTube, so many childhood memories. In retrospect the guy wasn't a great singer but I think it's still better than some of the stuff kids watch today.
