Studying...later

So I'm sitting in Kresge w/ my dosage book laid out in front of me. It's been an hour & I haven't even glanced at it; I need a study buddy to keep me on track.

In other news, I found a pair of really comfy flip flops, a replacement for the lightning bolt necklace I lost, & a suhweet pair of kicks. I think my bank account cried a little more, but all things considered, they all will last me a few years.
This could be considered unnecessary, but look at them! (This previous statement confirms that I am indeed a female)

Oh yeah, school started. It's been going well so far I'd say, I'm still alive! Though I have a few homework assignments & quizzes to start studying for already...I guess I should get to it.

I am also seriously missing Malaysia & my family

The End of Summer

So I'm chilling on my bed & eating carrots & celery dipped in ranch after finishing some amazing curry laksa (orgasmic). Overall, today was a good way to end the summer: caught up w/ Vanya, had Chipotle w/ Vanya, Kathy, & Lindsey (sp?), finally got our bathroom clean (or at least the parts of it that we actually use), got some batteries I completely forgot that I needed till I went to Meijer w/ my roommates (hi Brendon!) & I'm about to take a shower & then look over a few things before going to sleep.
Honestly, now that I think about it, I've had at least an interesting past few days: I've gotten trained to administer just about any vaccine, hang out time w/ the people closest to me & other cool kids, I'm officially in a professional school before I'm legally allowed to drink, I've met so many people because of pharm school, & I've been eating good food.
I'm a little nervous for tomorrow but I think things will be okay, or at least I hope. This upcoming week will reveal a lot.

Anyways, I thought it'd be fun to go over my summer list that I made a few months ago & see what I actually was able to do:
1) Go to at least one concert, I'd love to go to Eric Clapton or Train. Looking at the Warped Tour line up, I'm not impressed. Then again, I have been moving away from the whole genre that warped is moving towards. Though I'd love to go crowd surfing at least one more time
Yeah this didn't happen, Justin Nozuka moved his tour back to September & the Goo Goo Dolls were playing on a Sunday before work
2) Road trip. Preferably to Grand Haven, Up North, Mackinac, or maybe Chicago (unlikely).
Eh, does State count? GVSU will happen soon though
3) More trips to Stony Creek Metro Beach, or any beach.
I didn't make it to the beach once this summer, thankfully, I never bought the season pass.
4)
If I don't make the Dean's List this semester (WIN 10) then I want to make it for the SPR/SUM 10 one.
Bragging right are sweet.
This DID happen! Win 10...yup.
5)Get into even better shape than I was last summer. I stayed in relatively good shape over the school year so I'm pretty happy about that.
This didn't happen, but I didn't get too much fatter either. I'm still in decent shape so I'm okay w/ that.
6) Learn more about the art of Chinese cooking...or whatever you want to call my mom's cooking since in all fairness, it's a bit out there sometimes.
Maybe later... (:
7) Catch up w/ people I've been wanting to for a long time.
This happened for some people, so kind of a success
8) No hands spaghetti eating contest!
Mike, this will happen.
9) Get an apartment
Sitting in my apartment right now
10) Make & save enough money to pay for my apartment
I'll be okay
11) Saturday morning Eastern Market trips
One of these weekends
12) FUNK NIGHT. hopefully when it's not being held at the Majestic (i'm all for the underground experience)
July 2010 Russel Industrial Bazaar, hell yes.
13) If possible, borrow a fake & check out the club on the top floor of Los Galanes
I don't know enough asian of age ): Doesn't really matter though, I'll be 21 in just over
nine months
14) Read more this summer. Yes, I actually like to read books for fun.
I did read quite a bit, thought it wasn't as much as I would have liked, I still got a few good stories in!
15) Learn how to drive a manual, I'm for serious on this. It's been two years & I'm still ignorant.
Sigh...
16) More disc golf, driving range, ultimate, soccer, volleyball, & swimming
Disc golf: none
Driving range: once, where I did improve my swing thanks to Zach
Ultimate: none, unless you count throwing around a frisbee a few times
Soccer: a little bit
Volleyball: I watched
Swimming: I went a few times, lots of lap swimming. It was great!
17) Using my bike more too
I use my bike to go to the pharmacy school, or I walk there. I also used it for Critical Mass
(go figure), & for other errands & bike rides.
18) ROAD RALLY. this needs to happen.
Hahh it didn't happen
19) Finish the biofilm research & have enough material to get published! (how awesome would that be?)
Biofilm project is still in the works, however, we should be finishing by December, when my 10 page research paper is due for my grant haha

Malaysia!

Well I've been clearly lazy to update while in Malaysia, but hey, vacation is vacation, & man was this an amazing one. This is most def one of my top trips ever: I love seeing my extended family, the change of pace, & observing ways of life/differences in culture. I honestly haven't been so reluctant to leave somewhere. SO! A very brief summary of my trip:
- I love my cousins, aunts, & uncles. I miss you guys already! Thanks so much for taking us everywhere, for all the laughs, forthe generosity, & for your patience w/ the gimp American English only cousin (Andrew doesn't count, haha jk). I hope to see you guys sooner than in four years, it's seriously too long (not what she said).
- Lots of laughs & hanging out w/ my brother, something that hasn't really been possible considering he lives in Maryland & I only see him a few weeks out of the year.
- Hiking! I went on the hardest hike of my life this trip...Kota Kinabalu. Think 6km of steep stairs & you pretty much have this trail, then add rain, wind, & coldness. The sad thing is I didn't even reach the summit, meaning I'll have to go hike it next time we're back & drag myself up the last 2.5km. I'm pretty disappointed I wasn't able to finish it, pretty lame that tea brought me down. (You're forced by the park to stay on the mountain overnight before finishing the trail, so at the cafeteria up there I drank lots of tea...which had lots of caffeine. I wasn't able to sleep & because my body didn't get the rest it needed, my ankles & knees hurt so much by the time we had to leave to hike to the top that I couldn't do it. FAIL.)
- I went scuba diving for the first time! & it was gorgeous, I saw a few clownfish in anemones & of course, I thought of Finding Nemo. I also met some pretty cool people there & got some good new beats to check out from the trip.
- Learned some traditional dances at a head hunter tribe site (they literally used to cut off the heads of their enemies & have 300 year old ones on display). One was from the 17th century & was really lame but funny, the other was w/ bamboo poles & fun though pretty hard.
- Saw sooo many Malacca lizards, VERY exciting.
- Got some good asian food to bring back! Hopefully it all passes through customs
- Speaking of food, I ate a ton of excellent stuff in Malaysia that you can't get in the USA. Mmm. Especially Mangosteen, I think my obsession w/ this fruit has just exponentially increased since consuming ungodly amounts. For those of you who haven't tasted it before, it's very sweet, tastes kinda like starbursts but is so much better.
- Watching crappy movies on the plane rides while I should be studying for this test I have to pass by Tuesday, oh yeah. Whatever, it's still technically vacation right?
-We went parasailing & this new thing called flyfishing...the latter was about 432849032842 times more enjoyable (:
- The only downside of this trip other than not being here long enough: I lost my favorite necklace (one w/ the lightning bolt). So I hope it turns up, but at this point it's been out of my hands, figuratively & literally. Oh well.

Right now we're chilling in Taipei, it's 8:20pm Malaysian & 8:20am in Michigan. Our flight is around 10am/pm for a 13 hour flight back to San Francisco, then we have another layover, then we're finally back in Detroit! I'm excited to be back, but I would have loved to spend another week w/ my family. It's been so nice, but I guess it's always better to leave wanting more than counting the days till you're back. So as long as our plane doesn't pull a Castaway (w/ Tom Hanks) we'll be back in less than 24 hours! ....fuck all of the layovers & plane rides. I don't think that saving a few hundred dollars was worth the added 10 hours of traveling. (Then again, I shouldn't complain because I didn't pay for my ticket)

K-os

I can't decide how I feel about today because it's had its ups & downs. Hanging out w/ Zach & Sara today pretty much canceled out the sucky parts of my day, I'm just hoping (if I was religious, I'd be praying) that I get my battery before we leave tomorrow or I'll be a little upset.

Time to pack!
PS- I took my last exam given by Spranger EVER yesterday! & nearly herniated my stomach w/ the copious amounts of food that I ate in Mexican town afterwards, but it would most definitely have been worth it

Cult status

Soph & I are going to start a cult called Cream Cheese?*
*mayyde in Malaysia

Why? Because we know the LAST truth out of the thousand and one truths in the world!

Basically, I miss this kid

Study fail

So my plan for today was to get through the last two lectures of Spranger that I'd ever have to relisten to. Here's what ended up happening:

1) CPR/First Aid class, where I fell asleep during the First Aid video due to the lack of sleep over the past few days. BUT, I did learn it when we practiced.
2) Came home & had lunch
3) A much needed nap.
4) I realized I didn't bring home my lecture notes & left my laptop in my room; no big since I can pull up the lecture slides at home, right?
5) Wrong. I forgot our desktop doesn't support .pptx files because it's old so I spent some time trying to get some one to convert the files for me
6) Got Vanya to do it but it took a while between logging on, accessing the files, converting them, & sending them to the correct email
7) Dinner happened right after I got the email of lecture slides
8) Blackout. WTF. So instead, I went to BDubs w/ Zach, Mik, Danny, & Sara (yeah, I know.)
9) Got back, ate, did about 10 minutes of lecture before my brother called me over for this ridiculous YouTube vid, in which after we spent about an hour swapping different ones as always
10) I decided I wanted to go for a run & stick to my exercise everyday routine that I've gotten into (best run thus far- 1am, cool, not too humid, only passed by two cars, & I was able to go a lot further than I thought I'd be able to)
11) I'm blogging. fail. Buuuuuut, I'm cooling down & will instead relisten to lecture in my bed! Where I might fall asleep, maybe.

NOTE: The only reason I'm trying right now for A&P is because I have an A- going in class, meaning if I screw up this exam I'll be a little upset at myself
